Capability Technical Brief

This page explores CellScout's industrial-grade drive-testing utilities, highlighting multi-device remote synchronization and high-precision external GNSS hardware support.

Multi-Device Remote Synchronization

CellScout is designed to operate seamlessly inside professional multi-operator mapping vehicles, providing field technicians with tools equivalent to heavy, expensive engineering hardware rigs. The system excels in commercial network audits via its advanced, thread-safe Master/Slave Synchronization utility.

Through secure, synchronized RFCOMM channels, a single field operator can control up to eight separate benchmarking handsets simultaneously. Toggling recording "ON" on the Master device immediately broadcasts commands, survey parameters, log filenames, and real-time high-precision coordinates to all Slave devices concurrently, streamlining multi-carrier network benchmarking and preventing mismatched logs.

Sub-Meter Accuracy and External Hardware Integration

While modern smartphones possess highly capable internal GPS antennas, professional drive-testing and network site auditing require absolute geocoding precision. CellScout overrides standard handset location limitations by supporting external, high-precision USB and Bluetooth GNSS (RTK) hardware antennas mounted to the vehicle roof.

By connecting an external receiver directly into the application, CellScout streams and parses raw NMEA coordinates directly. This synchronizes your geocoded cellular metric frames with sub-meter location accuracy. Furthermore, all drive-test logs are exported in strictly structured, standardized CSV formats ready for immediate, drop-in ingestion by post-processing tools like Actix, TEMS, and MapInfo.
