aerial
photography

An extremely useful tool in network planning and optimisation, utilising drone technology means less disruption to a site provider and closer access to the site and antenna, it also means that there is no requirement for a climbing team which brings additional safety aspects.

panoramic photographs from fixed heights

Taking 360° photography at the desired height(s) from the antenna location and validating the height via the use of a Laser Measure.

Photographs would also be taken with the camera pointed at a 120°, 150° & 180° (where they normally are at 90°) and build up two fully immersive image files that give you a new viewing perspective.

3D
modeling

Production of a 3D model of the site and surrounding terrain enabling you to not only see the clutter, but also the distance to the clutter.

These models should also be useful when applying for code powers and producing new site search areas/ranking options as you would easily be able to demonstrate any clipping/blocking issues with a site over the preferred option.

This will save the initial drive around the area by the radio engineer and acquisition agent to gauge where the high points are and finding that tall building/existing mast that you can see, but just can’t quite find.

hi-resolution
imaging

Full availability of all images from the survey can be made available, enabling you to check the site without sending a climbing team.

CAD from
survey

Have a difficult site to survey? By using aerial photography we can achieve up to ±0.5cm accuracy and output this to CAD. This is particularly useful when it’s a difficult access rooftop that’s only accessible through cherry picker or large/complex rooftop.

antenna location
validation

Confirm the latitude, longitude, height, and azimuth of each antenna (options available up to ±0.5cm accuracy) without the requirement of a climbing/rigging team or outage. Keep personnel grounded and away from fall hazards.

packages

All of our clients are different, and our packages reflect the diverse nature of the projects we undertake.

We can also create a custom package to suite the needs of your business.

standard

  • Recording of Latitude and Longitude of the site using a GPS device.
  • Validation of the address and the access route taken to the site.
  • A shot of the site showing the access route and a shot of the site showing the site (or as much as can be captured).
  • A shot from above the site looking down showing everything and a shot from above looking directly north.
  • Panoramic 360˚ imaging from antenna level and with the drone as close to the antennas as feasible.
  • Panoramic 360˚ imaging from three extra heights or locations on the same building.

enhanced

  • Recording of Latitude and Longitude for site with dispersed antenna we will log each (accessible) antenna location and also provide a mean value for the site.
  • With the panoramic imaging from the standard package we will also include images with the camera at different angles to create a photo sphere.
  • With the drone at a height of 50m (~164ft) capture images from a radius of 150m.
  • With the drone at a height of 20m (~66ft) capture images from a radius of 30m including shots of the site (dependent on clutter).
  • The aerial shots will be stitched together to form a 3D map of the site and surrounding terrain.

survey

  • Recording of the antenna heights using a laser measurement device (to the bottom of the antenna). For rooftop macro the building height will also be recorded, for towers and structures we will record this height.
  • Close up shots of the antenna’s showing the antenna connectors and any labels or visible serial numbers.
  • Use of drone that has RTK capabilities and Ground Control Points to give ±0.5cm level accuracy which could be used for a difficult to access site (such as a site that is only accessible via cherry picker, or large building where conventional measuring techniques would be too cumbersome).
