find

Using coverage predictions or drive test data to identify coverage gaps and areas to target for new sites.

Using coverage dominance plots or drive test data alongside capacity hotspot reports to identify areas to target for new sites.

Desktop surveys of new site locations to identify potential candidates for sites that meet the criteria above so that acquisition agents can review and feedback before a visit to the area.

Visiting the area to find the most suitable site to meet the coverage gap/capacity hotspot issue that meets the operator's requirements whilst being mindful of the local residents.

Selection of antennas, antenna locations, feeder/fibre routes and equipment locations to maximise the potential of the site and avoid any future issues.

Review of planning and construction drawings to ensure that requirements captured on site are captured in the design and that the design meets the latest operator HLD/guidance until the site is built.

integrate

Providing initial configuration for the site, azimuths, tilts, BCCH/BSIC/TCH, PSC, PCI/RACH and initial neighbour plan for a new installation/cell.

Reviewing/initial optimisation of the newly integrated site/cell including changes to the configuration provided in the above step.

Performance review of new site/cell to pass into a live customer environment including any changes required to address issues.

optimise

Review of KPI's and counters from vendor tools to identify areas where there are problems.

Review of site configuration BCCH/BSIC/TCH, PSC, PCI/RACH and neighbours.

Physical changes to the site to optimise such as re-orientation of antenna's, changes to tilts (either mechanical or electrical) and in some situations relocation of antennae.

Parameter optimisation to improve site/cell whilst being respectful of the radio design guidance around optimisable parameters and ranges.

upgrade

Review of on-site antenna's, feeder/fibre routes, RF equipment and connectivity to align site to latest operator HLD/guidance and make site compliant.

Recommendations to site design to ensure that all current technologies can be deployed and that the best possible RF environment is achieved.

  • antenna swaps for newer frequencies
  • additional feeder/fibre to allow for newer frequencies/technologies to be utilised or for removal of combining
  • additional antenna positions
  • antenna relocation
  • feeder -> fibre change (and upgrade to RRH)
  • equipment relocation
  • new equipment demise(s)
  • enclosure changes
